Concrete Cancer Repair

Concrete Cancer Repair on the Northern Beaches

Rust never sleeps. When the steel inside your concrete corrodes it expands and cracks the concrete apart — and it only accelerates. We diagnose the real cause, treat the steel and repair it once, for homes across the Northern Beaches and North Shore.

WHAT IS CONCRETE CANCER?

If your concrete is cracking, rust-staining or flaking, this is usually why.

Concrete cancer (concrete spalling) is what happens when the steel reinforcement inside concrete corrodes. As the steel rusts it expands — up to seven times its size — forcing the concrete to crack, bubble and break away. Left untreated it spreads, and the repair only gets bigger and more expensive.

Cracking along beams and slab edges

Following the line of the steel below.

Rust stains bleeding through

Brown streaks on walls, soffits and balconies.

Concrete flaking or “spalling”

Pieces lifting, bubbling or falling away.

Exposed, rusting steel

Reinforcement visible where concrete has broken off.

Drummy concrete

Hollow-sounding areas when tapped.

Worst on balconies, driveways & coastal homes

Where salt and water reach the steel.

If you’re seeing any of these, it won’t fix itself — and every month it costs more.

WHAT WE REPAIR

Concrete cancer, wherever it’s taken hold.

We repair concrete cancer across the elements where it most commonly appears — treating the cause, not just the surface.

HOW WE WORK

Diagnose the cause, treat the steel, protect it for good.

A cosmetic patch traps the problem and it returns worse. Proper repair means getting to the steel, stopping the corrosion, and protecting it so water can’t start the cycle again.

01

Site assessment

We inspect and test to find the extent and the cause — chlorides, carbonation, water ingress.

02

Diagnosis & scope

We confirm the corrosion mechanism and define exactly what needs doing, with an itemised quote.

03

Repair

Expose and remove drummy concrete, clean and treat the steel (inhibitors / anodes), rebuild with high-bond mortars.

04

Protection

Waterproofing and protective coatings so water can’t reach the steel again.

05

Certification & handover

Clear documentation (and support for any insurance claim), and a home that’s fixed once.

We had rust stains and cracking spreading across our balcony and were bracing for the worst. Beaches Group found the cause, treated the steel properly and rebuilt it — two years on, not a mark. Done once, done right.
