Family Garden Retreat

The Brief

An outdoor space for the whole family.

The owners wanted the outdoor space of their coastal family home turned into a beautiful and functional retreat — somewhere for relaxation, play and entertaining that worked as hard as it looked good.

Just as important, the landscaping needed to carry a consistent Hamptons-inspired style across the whole property, front and back, so the spaces felt like one.

The Challenge

Beautiful and built for play.

A family garden has to balance beauty with everyday practicality. That meant durable surfaces around the pool, soft lawn for play, comfortable and shaded areas for entertaining, and planting that looks good year-round — all while integrating the front and rear of the property into a single, cohesive Hamptons look.

What We Did

Paving, planting and a place to gather.

Designing and building the landscape as one team, we reworked the whole outdoor environment:

• Installed new stone pool paving — a sleek, durable surface that complements the natural surroundings
• Added a rustic outdoor shower beside the pool, enhancing the beachside living experience with convenience and charm
• Landscaped the surrounds with lush grass and planter gardens for a soft, inviting space to relax and play
• Planted a variety of species for year-round visual appeal
• Created an open entertaining area with comfortable seating, shaded areas and ample space for family gatherings and social events
• • Completed landscaping at the front of the home to integrate the two spaces and continue the Hamptons-inspired style throughout the property

The Result

A garden made for family life.

The comprehensive landscaping project beautifully balances aesthetics and functionality, creating an inviting and harmonious outdoor environment for the whole family. The stone-paved pool surrounds and rustic shower make the most of beachside living, the lawn and planter gardens give the kids room to play, and the open entertaining area is made for summer — all wrapped in one consistent Hamptons style from the front gate to the back garden.
